  2. Weekend Gamers

    June 24, 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Weekend Gamers- All ages all day Saturdays Video games in a library?! Yes we have brand new and popular games in the library. Many of the games that we have here at the library are multiplayer games that encourage team work and leadership. Yes, you can play video games at home, however here at the library kids are given a chance to interact in person with others that share similar interest, these social skills are very important. With all that fun our kids don’t realize they are actually developing some very important learning strategies. Some games (especially Nintendo games) challenge kids on their reading, mathematics, and critical thinking skills. Also games are a great way to relieve stress. “Play is the highest form of research”-Albert Einstein

June Cinematheque's theme? "The Joy of Cooking," movies about those who love fine wine and cooking, and the drama that ensues therein. Our final film selection this month on Wednesday, June 28, is "Bottle Shock" (2008), starring Alan Rickman, Bill Pullman and Chris Pine. Rickman (R.I.P.!) is perfectly cast as a snobby wine expert who goes to California in search of an inexpensive wine for a blind taste test and is shocked to find a winery producing top-notch chardonnay. As always, we will show the film on our large screen and offer free popcorn (yum). Come join us!
