CURRENT SITUATION:

Monroe County Emergency Management continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Gustav.  

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Lower Florida Keys, west of the Seven Mile Bridge to Key West and the Dry Tortugas.

·       The U.S. 1, Overseas Highway, is open.
·       There is no tourist, or resident evacuation order, in effect.

LOCAL ACTIONS:

Monroe County Emergency Management has taken the following actions:
·       EOC Activation at Level 2 – Partial Activation
·       The Key West High School Shelter has deactivated as of 0730 hour today.
·       The Emergency Management office will continue to collect and disseminate information regarding the weather conditions

Monroe County Emergency Management encourages all residents, visitors and interested parties to:
·       Closely monitor this Hurricane through local weather reports, radio stations, TV channel 76 or the Monroe County Website at www.monroecounty-fl.gov.
·       Review their Emergency Plan
·       Recognize that due to the location of this hurricane, it may, unexpectedly, intensify rapidly and threaten the Florida peninsula necessitating the rapid implementation of all preparations and response plans
