In the past it was the United State Post Office's responsibilty to assign new property addresses. As of April 2006, the United States Post Office was directed to transfer this responsibily to local government entities. The Monroe County Growth Managment Division has taken over this responsiblity for unicorporated Monroe County.
In order to obtain an address from the Monroe County Growth Management Division the property must be located within unincorporated Monroe County. If the property is located in an incorporated area please contact the respective entity (Village of Islamorada, City of Marathon, City of Key West, etc).
