Library Meeting Rooms

Each Monroe County Public Library provides a meeting room for library events, such as author lectures or children’s storytimes. When available, these meeting rooms may be reserved for public meetings. Below is an FAQ regarding use of the meeting rooms.












What are the capacities of the library meeting rooms?
Meeting room capacities are:
Key Largo=120
Islamorada=75
Marathon=50
Big Pine Key=27
Key West
Auditorium=80
        Conference Room=12
Maximum capacities have been established and are enforced by the Fire Marshal.


Who may use the meeting rooms?
Monroe County or state governmental agencies and groups headquartered in Monroe County which are civic, cultural, educational or charitable in nature, may reserve the meeting rooms.


How far in advance may I reserve the room?
Rooms may be booked up to one year in advance; booking is done on a first com/first-served basis.


May I charge money or sell items at the meeting?
All programs must be free of change and open to the public, as space permits. No entrance fees may be charged or sales made. Library facilities shall not be used for personal or private profit, aggrandizement, or advertising.


May I serve refreshments?
Refreshments may be served with the branch manager’s consent. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Extra brownies for the library staff are encouraged.


Who sets up the room for my meeting?
Organizations using the meeting room are responsible for any needed arrangement of furniture before their meeting, as well as cleaning of the room at the conclusion of your meeting.


What are the requisite legal disclaimers?
Use of Library meeting rooms does not imply Library endorsement of the aims, policies, or activities of any group. The Library reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any program or exhibit when necessary. Sponsors my be required to execute a “hold-harmless” agreement and/or furnish appropriate insurance naming Monroe County as additional insured for certain types of programs, in compliance with the “Use of County Property” policy and procedures.
