Florida Statutes Section 315.13 authorizes the governing body of a county to form a port authority by resolution.  The Marine & Port Advisory Committee was initially created on 02/15/77 with the adoption of Resolution 024-1977 and later reactivated on 2/20/91 by Resolution 057-1991.  The purpose of this committee is to make informed recommendations and give advice to the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to ports and marine issues.  

The membership of this committee consists of ten.    Two appointments are made by each Monroe County Commissioner and they serve for a term of three years.
