Lane Closures & Parking Restrictions on Flagler Avenue
November 22, 2005

The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that there will be intermittent lane closures on Flagler Avenue between Bertha Street and South Roosevelt Boulevard while workers mill and resurface the road in this area.  One lane will be closed in either direction during non-peak daytime hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. continuing through December 22.  One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.  Travel lanes will reopen after 4:00 p.m. daily and will remain open from 4:00 p.m. Friday until 9:00 a.m. the following Monday.

This work will also require temporarily closing the parking lanes on Flagler Avenue.  Parking restrictions are scheduled for the South (eastbound) side of Flagler from November 28 through December 2, starting from Kennedy Avenue to Roosevelt Boulevard.  Parking restrictions are scheduled for the North (westbound) side of Flagler from December 5 through December 9 from South Roosevelt Boulevard to Bertha Street.  Further parking restrictions are scheduled for the South (eastbound) side of Flagler from December 12 through December 16 from Bertha Street to South Roosevelt Avenue.

Parking will be available on the opposite side of the street when the scheduled areas are closed.  Any car parked within the restricted areas will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Please note that this schedule is tentative and could be impacted by bad weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Steve Gilbert, Senior Project Engineer for the project stated, “citizens should be aware that there is still a lot of work to complete along Flagler Avenue that will result in parking restrictions, lane closures and work at the corners and intersections.  Variable message boards at both ends of the jobsite will be used to help notify citizens of upcoming lane restrictions and roadwork.  The patience and cooperation of all that travel Flagler Avenue is appreciated.”

For additional project information, questions or concerns, please contact Steve Gilbert at 305-345-7446 or the Public Involvement Office at 305-360-0936.
