Bayshore Manor, Monroe County’s assisted living facility recently participated in the Dolfriend Splash Program at the Dolphin Research Center (DRC) on Grassy Key. Bayshore Manor clients, staff and observers were the guest of the DRC program and had the opportunity to meet a dolphin up close and personal.
The Dolfriend Splash Program takes place on a submerged platform were participates along with a trainer stand in waist high water. A dolphin swims right in front of them in deeper water; the dolphin offers kisses, handshakes or even the opportunity to be given a backrub. Everyone that participated in the 30-45 minute program had a great time and came away give with an appreciation of the dolphins love, sense of humor, intelligence and amazing grace. |
