May 19, 2007 The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners held a dedication and grand opening to celebrate the opening of the Big Coppitt Volunteer Fire Department Park, Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 4:00 PM, 270 Avenue F, Big Coppitt Key (Mile Marker 10
Bayside). Speakers included Mayor Pro Tem Dixie Spehar, Commissioner Sylvia Murphy, Steve Miller, Chairman, Parks & Recreation Board, Chief Dan Cassel, Big Coppitt Volunteer Fire Department and Mr. Kelly Perez, Southernmost Bocce League.
The park, located at 270 Avenue F, Big Coppitt Key, offers the residents of Big Coppitt Key, and county residents a landscaped, paved, recreational area providing bocce courts, horseshoe courts, handball court, metal picnic pavilion, basketball/roller-hockey rink and associated lighting.
