How to use Monroe County Transit (MCT)
Providing paratransit services to the Florida Keys
MCT is an easy to use form of transportation with all buses wheelchair accessible. Additionally, MCT is a Medicaid provider. MCT drivers are well trained professionals, with special expertise in defensive driving, wheelchair restraints, passenger handling, vehicle use, safety, special needs and sensitivity awareness. Our hours of operation are from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday excluding the holidays observed by Monroe County Government.
How to register with MCT for service?
Call 305 292-4424 to speak with a reservationist or leave your name and telephone number if you receive a message when calling. The next available reservationist will call you back as soon as possible.
You will need to provide them with the following-
·       Full Name, Legal Physical Address, and Local Telephone Number
·       Date of Birth and Social Security Number
·       Whether you are eligible for Medicaid
·       Requirements pertaining to any special assistance or mobility needs, such as wheelchair or walker
To obtain service you will need to call the reservationist-
·       At 305 292-4424 preferably 24 hours in advance.
·       Provide them with your name, date, time and your destination.
·       Let them know of any special assistance required.
·       Once again, if you get a recording – Please make sure you leave your name & telephone number so we are able to return your call.
Pickup and Drop off-
·       Be ready at your scheduled pickup time because the driver may pick you up to 30 minutes after the scheduled pickup time! In other words there is a 30 minute pickup window.
·       Watch for the bus! Should you not be visibly waiting to board the bus, the driver will walk up to your door in an effort to make contact with you. If there is still no contact, communication and/or otherwise appear, the driver will notify dispatch who will attempt to telephone you. If there is no answer and no contact with the client is made the bus will depart.
·       Have your correct fare ready! One-way Trip Fare is $2.00.  Proceed to the bus, if you require assistance the driver may help you to and from the bus at both your residence and business establishment’s doors.
