Q.  What services do I receive?

A.   Every week:  

two garbage/trash collections – 32 gallon cans only; may not weigh more than 50 pounds when full.  Cans should be brought in from the curb after collection

one yard waste collection -   All palm fronds, and other yard trimmings less than  4” in diameter, are collected loose in cans, or cut to 4’ lengths and bundled.  Neither the can nor the bundle may weigh more than 50 pounds.

DO NOT PUT YARD WASTE IN PLASTIC BAGS.

Place clean items in 14 gallon plastic bins only, do not use garbage bags.  Plastics #1 and #2, steel and aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars (clear, green, and brown), newspapers, household batteries (place in small plastic bag), and flattened corrugated cardboard are collected.

Call your service provider for schedules.

As needed:
Oversize yard waste (possible additional charge)– Limbs larger than 4” in diameter only; must be cut to lengths of 6’ or less.  Place neatly at curb or road side.  Avoid placing under power lines.  Commercial tree removal and land clearing are not included in the solid waste assessment for residential service.  Do not mix with smaller yard waste items or other debris, as additional charges will be incurred. Call your service provider to schedule a pickup.

Bulk waste collection (no additional charge)– Furniture, appliances, car tires, and carpet are collected. Call your service provider to schedule a pickup.

Recycling drop-off – Located at the Cudjoe Key and Long Key transfer stations, and at 300 Magnolia Street (mm100.2), Key Largo; the drop-off sites accept junk mail office paper, and large quantities of corrugated cardboard.
Household Hazardous Waste drop-off –   The manned drop-off sites accept motor oil, car and boat batteries, paints, household and garden chemicals, florescent bulbs, and mercury containing devices on the following schedule:
        
        Cudjoe Key Transfer Station, MM21.5, Blimp Road
        First and third Wednesdays of each month
        Long Key Transfer Station, MM68
        First and third Fridays of each month

        Key Largo Recycling Yard, 300 Magnolia Street (MM100.3)
        Second and fourth Wednesdays of each month

Mulch – The Department of Agriculture has suspended the County’s mulching program indefinitely due to the presence of Citrus Canker in the Florida Keys.

NOTE:   Construction and demolition (C&D) debris is not  included in residential service.  Your service provider may collect these items, but will charge for them.
