In the past it was the United States Post Office’s responsibility to assign new property addresses. As of April 2006, the United States Post Office was directed to transfer this responsibility to local government entities. The Monroe County Growth Management Division has taken over this responsibility for unincorporated Monroe County.

In order to obtain an address from the Monroe County Growth Management Division the property must be located within unincorporated Monroe County. If the property is located in an incorporated area please contact the respective entity (Village of Islamorada, City of Marathon, City of Key West, etc).
