SOAR Key West is being produced by Friends of the Key West International Airport, Inc., a 501(c), not for profit corporation.  We have no paid employees so we desperately need the help of volunteers to make this new and exciting aviation event a safe and enjoyable success for the airport and for our visitors!  In exchange for volunteering to help with SOAR, we will provide each volunteer with a free t-shirt that identifies you as an Event Coordinator/Staff.  We will also reimburse each volunteer $5 to help cover your lunch and drink costs.

The gates are open to the public from 9 to 4, so we will have two, 4-hour shifts for volunteers: 8:30 am to 12:30 and 12:30 to 4:30 pm.  You can sign up for one or the other or both.  We have a need for volunteers in several areas:
-Parking lot attendees to direct visitors to the correct parking areas.
-Entrance gate greeters to facilitate the flow of visitors into the flight line area.
-Gold cart drivers to drive pilots and their passengers to/from their aircraft.
-Safety officers to keep visitors off the active runway and taxiways.
-Other volunteers to help in areas as needed.

To sign up as a volunteer, please email Neal at or call him at 305-879-9306.  Provide your name, cell phone, back up phone (home or work), email address, t-shirt size (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL), and your desired shift and duty.  We will do our very best to give every volunteer their first choice of shift and duty, but we may need to ask you to work a different shift or duty to ensure all of our required areas are properly staffed.  So please advise us if you can work a different shift or in another duty area on the same shift.  Finally, also please tell us what organization you are with (student, club name, company name, etc) so we know how you heard about us so that we can give your organization proper credit.  Neal will contact you by phone not later than two days prior to the event to confirm you are still available and to give you your assigned duty and shift.  On the day of the event, Saturday February 5th, report to the entrance gate at the Island City Flying Service hanger located just west of the main terminal/control tower at your allotted time to receive your t-shirt and instructions regarding your assigned tasks.  Park in the lot just in front of the hanger, which has been gratefully reserved for you, our valued volunteer!
