The Marine and Port Advisory Committee was initially created on February 15, 1977 with the adoption of Resolution 024-1977 and later reactivated on February 20, 1991 by Resolution 057-1991. The purpose of this committee was to make informed recommendations and give advice to the Monroe County Port Authority and to the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to ports and marine issues as requested by action of the Port Authority or the BOCC, Staff, or the MPAC itself.
The Marine and Port Advisory Committee was dissolved on May 16, 2018 with the adoption of Resolution 147-2018 in view of the need to re-allocate County resources needed to support and service recovery priorities in the post-Hurricane Irma environment. It is deemed necessary and in the manifest public interest to re-orient County resources from said Committee to provide enhanced support and service of such recovery needs and priorities. Resolution 147-2018 was effective immediately upon its adoption by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners.
