State Road 5/N. Roosevelt Roadway Project Kickoff Event
Wednesday, April 25, Bayview Park, Key West

Key West – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Kickoff Event for the State Road (SR) 5/N. Roosevelt Roadway Project at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Bayview Park in Key West.

State and local officials will gather to mark the launch of one of the most significant roadway projects in Monroe County. Presenters will include FDOT District Six Secretary Gus Pego; Monroe County Commissioner Heather Carruthers; and Key West Mayor Craig Cates.

The project includes reconstructing SR 5/N. Roosevelt Boulevard from Eisenhower Drive to US 1; replacing the seawall and promenade; installing a new storm water drainage system; and replacing the existing water and sewer lines in coordination with the City of Key West and the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority. Construction will last about two years and cost an estimated $41.5 million.

For more information, please call FDOT’s Public Information Office at (305) 470-5349 or Construction Public Information Specialist Dean Walters at (305) 849-1474 or go to the website: www.fdotmonroe.com/keywest.

Drivers are encouraged to call 511 before they travel; or log on to www.fl511.com to get real-time traffic and lane closure information. FDOT would like to remind drivers that wearing a safety belt is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Please drive cautiously in construction zones.
